Rain is forecast in a band from the Corolinas to Louisiana. Rain also is predicted for Western central California. Warm weather and fair skies ore forecast, for about the Watergate break-in and events that followed, the Times said. The newspaper account also said these points come up in the book: When Nixon summoned then Vice President Gerald Ford to advise him to prepare to assume the presidency, Ford said he wanted to talk it over with his wife.

Nixon pleaded with Ford to keep Henry A. Kissinger on as secretary of state. Nixon says he and Kissinger stood and prayed together, rather than dropping to their knees as reported in 'The Final Days," by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Gen. Alexander Haig the White House chief of staff in the final months of the administration, believed from the start that Nixon would have to resign but the White House press secretary, Ronald Ziegler, opposed resignation.

NEW YORK (AP) Former President Richard M. Nixon will maintain in his memoirs that the Watergate scandal was a partisan weapon his enemies used to drive him from office and he will continue to deny personal wrongdoing, the New York Times said in today's edition. The book will picture him as the victim of injustice and say that he resigned to spare the nation the division an impeachment trial might have caused, the Times said in a story from London. Reporter Herbert Mitgang said some of the contents of the yet to be completed book were pieced together from publishing sources in the United States and Europe who have seen 164 pages of completed manuscript dealing with Watergate. Nixon says in the book that he regrets not questioning his aides more closely most of the rest of the nation.

Then Beam, with the assistance of five neighbors, lowered the object into Hut-son's yard and stretched the control wires to a nearby garage. "We thought we told everyone in the neighborhood what we were doing," Beam said.

"Unofortunately, we forgot to inform one group of people the police." Hutson said he telephoned police. "I tried to tell the police operator I was a rational man, but that I had this weird, screaming, lighted thing in my back yard. Police finally traced the wires to the garage and found the pranksters. No charges were filed. The only remaining mystery, Hutson said, "Is what I will do to get even." son thought he had visitors from outer space.

"Scared, I hate to tell you the feeling I had," Hutson said Monday. 'It sent chills up my spine." Hutson said he was awakened from a sound sleep by the "most eerie noises, wildest lights and strangest looking thing right in by back yard." What Hutson thought might be an unidentified flying object was an object created for $5.47 worth of materials by neighbor John Beam Jr. "Many times Gary has played practical jokes on the neighborhood," Beam said, "so I thought it might be worth a laugh to play the ultimate practical joke on him."
